Bedside Manner Training for New Physicians

The medical community has adopted a new testing protocol to identify communications-savvy applicants to Virginia Tech Carilion Medical School. The article in the New York Times says it all. The use of the protocol, called MMI, or multiple mini interview, and weeds out prospective doctors who cannot work as a team, and who balk at communicative rather than authoritarian problem solving. There are 8 US medical schools using the protocol. It’s about time!
